Excerpts taken from "Gull Lake Memories; a History of the Town of Gull Lake", which was produced and published by the Gull Lake History Committee in 1989, Box 58, Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, S0N 1A0 Canada: Phyllis McCormick came to Gull Lake July 31, 1943 and no one to meet her as she arrived at 2:00pm. It was a hot day. The grass was dry and dust everywhere, which made her want to take the next train out of here. However the staff at the hospital were friendly and pleasant so she decided to stay. A week after arriving she was asked to take the duties of matron. In 1945 she resigned and married Roman Slabik. They moved to the Slabik farm and lived there until September 1978 when they moved to a new home in town. They raised a family of two. John and Phyllis. John and family live on the home farm now. Phyllis and family built a home not too far from them. Roman died December 3, 1980. Phyllis died October 23, 1985.
